The horses are kept in the central city for the Horse Guards. This same thing occurs in London. Good looking horses.

Napoleon's Tomb is a good visit. Be sure and see the chapel and look at the army\exhibits. Then, walk over to the Rodin Gallery and museum just around the corner.

The California Coast

This is a photo of the rocky point of Pigeon Point, California. The coast is very popular in the summertime when the inland valley reaches 100 degrees. The coast is cool. People come to San Francisco in the summer and are cold. San Francisco is cool in the summer due to the fog and ocean breeze.

Airports SFO, CDG, PDX and other letters

If you travel enough you get used to airports. We have been to plenty both large and small. As we fly Air France often, we find ourselves in San Francisco (SFO) and Paris (CDG) on occasion. Both of these International airports for Air France are pleasant places to wait for a flight. Last flight to Frankfurt, we flew Business and enjoyed the lounges. It is easy to get used to Business Class.
A couple smaller airports that are especially nice are: the one at Livingstone, Zambia and Calgary Canada. I forget names.
My worst experiences have been in Detroit and Boston, but they have more to do with staffing than other factors. I get a little more confused in Heathrow, London.
Best shopping, besides Paris, is Portland, Oregon.

Earthquakes and Spain

This is a column in The Alhambra in Granada Spain. Many years ago, the builders placed a lead layer in their  columns so that they would give and not break in an earthquake. As we have had a number of quakes of late in my home area of California, I have been thinking about those architects and their method. .

Pandas at the Edinburgh Zoo

The pandas were on loan from China and very popular.
The Edinburgh Zoo is large and inclusive.
The only note is that it is on a hill making few of the walkways flat.
This actually makes it a more normal setting.

On the balcony of The Livingstone Lodge, Zambia

Sorry for how dark this is I came into the suite not expecting to see anyone. Grabbed my camera to get a photo before he was gone. He did not leave right away and could not actually get into the room. My grandson wanted to go to Africa to see animals and we really did see them on three safaris. But, in the end, we never saw a leopard. We saw four of the big five.

The Seine Is A Working River

The Seine is beautiful as it follows from Paris to the sea. but, it is also a river that works. This photo shows a cargo boat going upstream.
If you have missed me. I have been in the hospital since July 4th. Missed the holiday, Ok now.

We have worshipped at Notre Dame in Paris as well as visited there a couple of other times. It can be crowded, but like any other famous place, it is worth it. While it is currently recovering from the terrible fire, when you have an opportunity to visit, do so. The photo here is of a small niche along the chapels. It shows the incredible talent of the artists who did work on the cathedral.

Postcard Pictures

I like to take photos that look like they were from a postcard, but rarely succeed.
My granddaughter Sarah is a natural. She runs along snapping pictures here and there
and they are super. She has  natural talent.
This is one of hers.

German Rail Station

This is a small rail station on the local line between Munich and Dachau. It is easy to hire a local guide and you meet them at the main station in Munich. The train does not take very long and was not that crowded. I met an 85 year-old woman who was visiting Dachau for the first time. She said she had grown up in Germany, near Munich, and was there during WW II. She said that it had taken her that long to get the courage to see the concentration camp.
