We are ahead of time - what's Sirmione?

We were ahead of schedule on our way from Lake Como to Verona -- well, we thought we were until we realized we had left our passports at the hotel in Lecco. Lots of time, so there looks like an interesting albeit narrow spit going out into Lake Garda. The sign said Sirmione. Let's try it. WOW.
