Whithorn Priory, Scotland UK


     In southern Scotland, near my ancestral home, there are the villages of Wigtown, Isle of Whithorn and Whithorn. In the middle of the town of Whithorn there is a museum and Priory along with displays of ancient Celtic crosses. This is nearly surrounded by an old cemetery.
     Among the various buildings stands the one photographed above. Mr. Wilson is a joiner, that is, a cabinetmaker. One assumes from the sign that it was a small step into making caskets and from there to doing the whole job as undertaker.
