Near the ocean and boat landings in Barcelona, Spain there is a tall pillar with a statue of Christopher Columbus on top. The story goes that he is pointing to America (The West Indies) that he has discovered for Spain. In reality, he pointing to the water, or south toward Africa. Just about everyone knows about the error, but what is done is done.
