WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

The Rock of Gibraltar

Don't look down... I like to look out the window when flying at 35,000 feet in a plane. I don't mind walking over the Golden Gate Bridge. But, it was a two Valium experience to drive up the Rock of Gibraltar. Our guide had a pretty new Mercedes van wider than the road (well that's an exaggeration) and you could look straight down at times (this is no exaggeration). The photo above is of the Mediterranean coast on the south side of The Rock. That is a senior citizens housing unit below. I did not have to lean out to take this picture and, at that, I used some telephoto. The fence below is to catch the falling rocks so they do not roll into the building. Dang.
