WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Catalonia Free

Nearly everywhere in Catalonia the flag flown was not the one of Spain. The Catalonia flag was everywhere. It was like driving in the South in the United States and seeing the Confederate flag here and there. The people in Barcelona could be heard talking about the fact that they do more for their country than they get back. I am not sure what is true, but one can understand the feeling of not belonging. Increasingly California and especially Northern California feels the same.
The photo above was taken in the Gothic section of Barcelona... by Mike McLellan.
