Kilkenny Castle, Kilkenny Ireland

I guess that if you can afford a castle, you can afford someone to cut the lawn.

Pylones

Two of my granddaughters like this store chain big time. They have shopped it in the lower mall at the Louvre in Paris.  This is one we discovered in Prague CZ. Interesting objects made of various materials.

Western End of Ireland

Near Castlegregory, Ireland, this point juts out into  the Atlantic Ocean and a
sign reminds us that the next piece of land is North America.

Ponte Vecchio Verona Italy

Not long after beginning a visit  to Italy, you begin to understand some Italian. If not, you miss out on things. The word "ponte" is the word for bridge and they are everywhere. "vecchio" is "old". In Verona (one of my favorite Italian cities) the Ponte Vecchio is part bridge and part fort and part museum. It is a remarkable piece of art, as well. We were blessed in our visit by a rainy day and it seems fitting. The tower in the distance is fun to go up and see the city. It is on the oldest section.

Victoria and Albert Museum, London

The first piece of art you encounter as you enter the sculpture area
of the museum, although on the first floor all of their Rodin's were in one gallery.

Feldkirch, Austria

My wife and I agree that Feldkirch was a very nice stop in Austria. Moreover, we would claim that the restaurant through this portico was one of the best meals we have ever had. I wish I could remember the name. Will research on Google Earth.  We were very early for dinner. It is in an auto free square in the old town. Long time ago...

Parasailing in the Italian Alps

Stop the car! I want to take a picture of that! -- There were two people parasailing in the Dolomites.

Safari in Ascari Game Preserve, South Africa

Grandson Lucas and myself in the Safari Wagon. We are ready for a game drive.
The day's goal was to see a variety of plains animals.

Lucas took some great pictures while we were exploring four nations in the south of Africa
(and three in Europe on the way there and back).
This is a zebra. We pronounce it zee-brah. They pronounce it Zeb-rah.

Small Islands off the Oregon Coast at Tillamook

Along the circular drive outside of Tillamook Oregon at the lighthouse, there is a gentle trail leading to several places that are great for taking photos. This photo is looking South West.

Southwest Trails, Number 7, Portland, Oregon, USa

Portland, Oregon is honeycombed with hiking trails in the urban center. You have no need to go out to a park. The parks surround you. In fact, Portland is the home of the largest urban park in the United States. Visiting Portland calls for hiking boots. Photo taken near our home.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse, California USA

We often go to Pigeon Point to watch for whales. It has a great deck overlooking the point where the whales come close to the shore. There are also sea lions and many birds such as pelicans. There is a hostel here, as well.

Interesting Fort and Rock Formation Along the Danube

This has been there a long while, but it is well engineered. A fortification along the Danube. Note people on top looking down.

One lake among many around New Preston, Connecticut

View from the hotel porch near New Milford Connecticut, The hotel is across the road from a winery with a busy tasting room. My nephew took us on a tour and we stopped here. A beautiful, pleasant day in October.

Vienna in the Rain

We went walking in Vienna in the rain. What a lovely place.  Soon, the sun came out and that evening we attended a concert in mild and clean weather. Vienna was not what I expected, but I am not sure what I expected.

Beach Volleyball in Barcelona

The beach at Barcelona is lovely. It draws a crowd and some of that crowd comes to play volleyball. If you have ever played volleyball in the sand, you know it is tough. Above the folks are playing badminton on the beach, as well. Barcelona must have a topless optional rule as well, although we only saw a very (very) old woman topless.

Palm Trees in Ireland

Palm trees are found all along the central and southern part of Ireland. These are just south of Lismore. The Gulf Stream from the warm waters along the coast of Florida flow north and east toward Ireland and Scotland. Along the coast of both you will find the same shells as are found along the coast of Florida. The palms, of course, are imported as they are in the United States.

Early Morning at the Tower of London

Helpful Hint: This photo was taken just after the Tower was open to the public. A Beef Eater chatting with a tourist. We suggest that you get in line 1/2 hour before opening. The line will not be long on a weekday. When open, go directly to the Crown Jewels at the rear of the Tower. It gets busy later. Then work your way forward back to the front gate. This is the system we use in museums. Open doors and head to top floor and work your way down. You will see the crowds as you descend, but not between you and the art.

Marble canyon, Alberta, Canada

The walk from the car park is an easy one. It goes across a bridge and then up a steep hill. As I do not do steep hills, my wife took the trail and I stayed on the bridge communing with the chipmunks. We both found the hike energizing.

St. Vitus Cathedral, Prague Castle CZ

St. Vitus Cathedral is a main feature within the walls of the fortress that surrounds the Prague Castle. Atop one of the highest points in the city, The castle commands a wonderful view of the river and community. A place of palaces and museums, the castle should be given a day and make sure you stop by for a concert.

Pork Joint

So... pork joints are a popular menu item in Germany. Wishing to have the full experience, I order one with a lager. The plate comes with dumplings. It was very difficult to eat. The knife was fairly sharp, but not sharp enough. What I got off of it tasted good, but the work was not worth it to me. I do not ordinarily post food photos, so pardon this one. Memories of Munich.
