WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Gallarus Oratory, Dingle, Peninsula, Ireland

Gallarus (meaning either "rocky headland" or "house to shelter foreigners") is a chapel located on the Dingle PeninsulaCounty Kerry, Ireland. We were there on a wonderful clear day allowing us to see the islands as well as the peninsula.

( For scale) Marietta (5' 2") nearly bumped her head on the doorway.

From the hotel room at La Villa, Italy (The Dolomites)

I think the Dolomites are a magical group of sandstone mountains in the North East area of Italy. We struck out for there from Venice. A lovely week or so with constantly changing views including a visit with the "iceman" in Bolzano. Here the hotel is actually higher than the clouds.

No flights this year so far

We had flights to China planned. Sorry they have an unknown virus. Then we booked flights to New York from San Francisco (layover 8 days) and from JFK to Panama for a visit to the rain forest. Nope; they have the virus but now it happens to have a name. No use in worrying about the flight home to SFO from Panama.

Well, we hope to get somewhere interesting next year. I will then have had a haircut.
