WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

National Geogaphic

The National Geographic for March 2014 has an article on the Duomo (Cathedral) in Florence. This
picture above is from a window high up on the Baptistery across the courtyard. While the Duomo is a wonderful place to visit, if possible get a special pass to the second, third stories, and dome of the Baptistery.  It is not an easy climb, but you get up high to see, close up, the mosaics. Below is from the third level before entering the dual-sided dome. I was not sure I'd make it - as I am writing this it is obvious that I did.
