WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Chapel near the Seine in France

Due to my long career as a theologian, I am attracted to churches. We have visited great cathedrals and small country churches.  We have visited the private chapels of kings and queens. Here is a photo of a small chapel just outside the walls of an abbey in France. We had come to the abbey to hear a concert of chants, but this small building, near the site where the brothers of the abbey are buried, was of great interest. Simple. I think all truth is simple. I think all faith is simple. But, simple does not mean they are not powerful. The prayers prayed in this place are not less life changing than those uttered in Notre Dame.
