WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

The Spanish Steps, Rome

These are the Spanish Steps in Rome; called that because they are near the Spanish Embassy. They are a meeting place like the coffee shop in "Friends" and the bar in "Cheers". Nearly ever city has that place where people gather like Las Ramblas in Barcelona or Montmartre in Paris or Trafalgar  in London. Times Square in New York is now, once again, more like this. Union Square in San Francisco has long been a gathering place. All of these attract locals and tourists - and pickpockets. There are risks everywhere, but there is no travel without risk.
