WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Oldest building in Honfleur, France

When we talk about the oldest building in our town (Tracy, California USA) we are talking about 1900. When you are in Boston it is centuries older. Here, in Honfleur, it is way older than that. Some date back to the 1200's. The other issue is that Honfleur is on the Normandy Coast and all of those towns took a beating during World War II. Caen, as an example, is nearly all new since 1945. You will note what I found interesting about this place. It as been retrofitted with lights and an alarm plus a new (?) second story.
