WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Calgary, Canada

 Downtown city park

Calgary as seen from the Stampede Grounds
Calgary is a large and pretty community. It is a good visit by itself or as the gateway to the National Parks of Alberta. The center city is filled with public art and the light rail system makes it easy to get around without a car. Famous for the Calgary Stampede, the grounds are interesting even when not much is going on. They are free to explore. Home to higher education, Calgary also hosted a Winter Olympics and the site is just outside of town on the way to Banff.
