WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

American Kids Eating In Europe +

One of our grandchildren on her trip to Scotland and France ate macaroni and cheese only until we got to Paris where she discovered steak and fries (above), Our grandson lived on strawberry ice cream in Africa except when we were going and coming through Europe where he only ate Belgian Waffles and Pancakes. Another granddaughter did try snails in France, but stuck with pizza mostly.

I was hoping they would learn about food in other countries and there was some concern about their limited diet. I figured that they would eat when hungry and their few food choices would not hurt them in a month.

As a kid, when traveling, I lived on hot beef sandwiches and Boston cream pie, both of which were popular in my youth. Although I do recall eating watermelon for breakfast every so often. Growing up in my family home it was eat what mom cooked or else. "Else" was not good.
