WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Unsuspected dangers

This photo is of the harbor in Honfleur France. It is a lovely city. I took this photo on Fete National (Bastille Day). The Ferris wheel was inviting, but I did not go. My wife and granddaughter went with friends. It looked safe from the ground.

As it turned out the doors to the capsules did not lock and would swing open. There were no seatbelts. It would be easy for someone horsing around to fall out. No one did at that time.

I am one that rarely worries about danger anywhere, but realize that safety in the United States is sometimes better regulated than in other countries. It is good to remember.
