WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Amsterdam - The Red Light District

We found ourselves in the Red Light District in Amsterdam last week as we concluded a trip that included 6 flights, 3 continents, 8 countries, and 3 African safaris. There were loads of surprises over the last month. There has been plenty of  travel information for at least the next year.
The trip sounds more tough than it was. The idea was to do two weeks in southern Africa and to break up the flight from San Francisco to Johannesburg by spending time in Brussels on the way and Amsterdam on the way back. We may have discovered more adventure in Europe than in Zambia.
We were interrogated in Zambia by a minor official; I was pulled from the line in Paris for a random security check; we found the Red Light District coming back to our hotel from the Anne Frank House; and lots more.
I love the unexpected and we had plenty of it.
