This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

The Alcazar, Segovia, Spain

You may have to walk from the parking lot in Segovia to get to the Alcazar, but it is a lovely walk with sights along the way that will remind you that this is Spain. A Roman aqueduct, a statue of Columbus, a beautiful brownstone church, a plaza with food options - as you walk up the gentle grade you will see out of the city and into the vineyards and fields. From one vantage you will see a small church from whence crusaders left to fight the Moors. In the garden in front of the moat, there are large chestnuts waiting to be picked up; one is enough.  This is truly a great and short visit from Madrid.
