WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

The Abbey at Iona

I did not take this photo and will gladly credit it if it is yours. Whoever you are, I thank you. I was on Iona for a couple of days and the weather was not good for photos. We stayed at a lovely B&B and went to vespers at the Abbey.
Vespers are the evening services and the theme the night we were there was "hospitality". It was lived out by the people there. We received a warm welcome and it was as if we were coming home. In some ways, it is home for a Presbyterian Minister (Iona is where Christianity came to Scotland and Scotland is in place of genesis for Presbyterianism).
More importantly, it was a goal of many years to visit there. I have had some other goals completed and have sometimes been disappointed. Not here.
