We love our travels in the United Kingdom. Sorry that it is not so united as this is written. Every nation seems to have the same "I am better than thou" attitude as we in the United States have. Or, at least 1.6 percent more have it in the U.K. than don't have it. Scotland and Northern Ireland may drop out of the U.K. and go back to the EU. People dropping labels all over the place. I find it sad. I believe in unity and the fact that on this small speck in space we are all in this together. The EU has its problems. It is like the U.S. where Californians have to tolerate the behavior of Texans and Texans have to tolerate the behavior of folks from New York. Tolerance or not, together we are stronger than we are separately. We shall see what happens. We are looking forward to visiting our cousins across the Atlantic to see how they are doing.
The best adventures are those that contain surprises. There are wonders to be discovered by getting lost in the Highlands of Scotland or on the back roads of New England. There may just be a chance to meet a special character who changes your life. In ancient times these were sometimes known as angels.
WELCOME
This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.
