WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Selective fear of heights

Greenland from 35,000 feet
Verona from the Old Tower
Gondola tram in Italian Alps
I have a selective fear of heights and I am not sure why. I can easily look out of a plane - and love to do it. I can take a gondola or tram and enjoy the ride, I cannot climb a tower (Eiffel, Verona,  Venice or the dome of St Peter's) without major anxiety. I am okay on most bridges. Is it that I do not trust engineers? Old buildings? Static things? I am not sure, But, I do know that I still go up to find out if it will terrify me.
