WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Maryhill Washington

Maryhill is a museum in Washington State. It overlooks the Columbia River just east of The Dalles. Very interesting and varied. There are a collection chess sets, pieces by Rodin, and paintings. Then there are the pieces above. This is one sample. The throne of the queen of Romania. Lots of other gilded furniture.  It is a 2 1/2 our drive from Portland. Leave around 8 and see the exhibits. Have lunch in the museum cafe and see what you missed, take a run east (2 miles)  to a model of Stonehenge and then return to Portland. There is also time to top along Route 84 to see Multnomah Falls or stop at the Bonneville Power Plant.
