WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Victoria Falls from the air and from the bush

The Zambezi River cuts through south central Africa. Where it divides Zambia from Zimbabwe, it tumbles into a canyon creating Victoria Falls. The top photo was taken from a helicopter and considering the falls are a mile wide it had to be from altitude. The bottom photo was taken from the trail along the Zimbabwe side of the falls. It is difficult to show scale, but a hint is made by the people on the bluff in the right of the photo. Huge.
These pictures were taken by my then (it was last year) twelve year old grandson, Lucas Meurisse. As we fly out of San Francisco, this is half way around the world. Everyone should begin their teen years having been on safari.
