WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

What happens if you are ten minutes late?

Some of my favorite YouTube videos are those where a passenger gets to the gate after the door is closed and demands to get on the plane. How many times do the airlines have to say that in most airports you need to get there one and a half to two hours early for domestic flights and two or more hours early for international flights? It takes time to park, get luggage checked, tickets ready, walk to the boarding area and get on the plane. I have had to wait in the boarding areas a good deal and listen to some of this first hand, but I am always early so I can relax a bit before getting on the plane. In fact I like hanging out in the lounge if there is one. Do not think that an airline is picking on you, they are trying to keep a schedule for everyone else. They need people to make connections.  They have a certain place on the runway for takeoff. It is just the way it is.
