We have visited Fort Augustus twice. The first time we stayed at
a hotel owned by the family of Chris McLellan. They were wonderful people and it is a nice bed and breakfast. Nothing beats an English/Scottish breakfast. I personally like black pudding and haggis. Not everyone's favorites. In only a few hundred yards are the locks that control the Caledonian Canal as it dumps into Loch Ness. This photo is taken from the bridge at the lock looking at the Loch. ( A couple of words that sound alike.)This is one of my top ten favorite places. The best adventures are those that contain surprises. There are wonders to be discovered by getting lost in the Highlands of Scotland or on the back roads of New England. There may just be a chance to meet a special character who changes your life. In ancient times these were sometimes known as angels.
WELCOME
This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.
