Lake Garda, Northern Italy

While Lake Como gets the most press due to the population of Bellagio, there are two other wonderful lakes in the north of Italy. The largest is Lake Garda and the other Lake Maggiore. Even at that there are many smaller lakes.  There are many hotels and resorts around each of them. Sirmione is an ancient fortified (now commercial) town on the lower end of Garda. It is amazingly pretty. While in Milan, Verona or Como it is a fun place to stop.
