WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

A couple of street scenes in Amsterdam. It really is an interesting and pretty city. It has some surprises too what with the Red Light District and the coffee shops selling marijuana.  There are other shops selling candy etc. laced with the marijuana oil. Not shocking. Just different.
Amsterdam is fairly easy to get around on foot. We took a cab from the train station to our hotel -- a few blocks -- but with the canals and one way streets it took longer in the cab than walking. We took the taxi because of our luggage. We usually travel lighter than that, but this time we had to be prepared for summer in Europe and winter in Southern Africa.
