WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Baby Giraffe, Botswana

These days, it is easy to capture a photo of a baby giraffe with a point-and-shoot camera. New cameras do much of the work for you and most come with an editing program to make the photo better. This little guy was about a day old. He was moving a little slow to catch his mother.  In fact, I do not know if it is a "he" or "she" as I cannot make out the color of the knobs on its head. One thing for sure, Mother Nature gave it great camouflage for the grasslands where I found it.  This picture was taken with a newer model Lumix with telephoto and cropped from a photo of several giraffes.
