WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

La Sagrada Família

Detail over the door of The Church of the Sacred Family in Barcelona
Why is La Sagrada Familia such a big deal. First it is glorious. Second it is huge. But most importantly it was begun in 1882 when most buildings were small wooden structures. A few churches were Gothic wonders, but this church was modern, cutting edge and very different. It is amazing to think that it has been constructed over that many years and is planned to be completed in the next decade. The vision of one man, Gaudi.  Like it or hate it, it is marvelous.
