WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

The Zambezi River

This photo was taken from a small boat as we crossed from Botswana to Zambia and eventually Zimbabwe. There is a bridge being built, but right now the trucks go by ferry as do the cars. It takes about two days of waiting for the trucks to go across.  We took a small bus to the south shore and small boat across and were picked up by another small bus that took us to the David Livingstone Lodge. That bridge was long in coming. You need a visa to cross the river and another to go from Zambia to Zimbabwe.  They take cash only and in crisp one and five dollar bills (US). $30 each. You can see the bus waiting for us. It has a small trailer to carry our luggage; it is at left center.
