WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Venice

It is obvious that Venice is very much a tourist destination. It was not designed as one, but it draws people to it. It is interesting. It is historical. It is fun. These are reasons why it has become so popular to people. The middle of the Sahara is not a tourist destination for a reason too. When something is attractive you have to deal with the crowds. You just do. But, if you want to see Venice without a crowd. Go and stay there. Go to a concert at the Fenice opera house. Go out at night when everyone else is back on their cruise ships. Late night in St. Mark's Square is wonderful.
