WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

The Rock of Gibraltar

(Taken with a very long lens from the ground)
There are many surprises in Gibraltar. It is a English Colony surrounded by Spain. Famous for The Rock, it is an interesting visit. The local language is Spanglish - mostly English with a Spanish accent. The people are really nice. To drive there you have to wait for the planes to land at the airport as you have to go over the runway to get in. The most surprising for me is the fact the The Rock is honeycombed with tunnels dating back to the Revolutionary War. The tunnels were added to during World War II.  There are holes where gun emplacements are located.
