WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Three Coins In The Fountain

In Rome you are to toss a coin in the fountain to guarantee your return.  In Florence, Italy you need to rub the pig's nose at the market to make sure of coming back. In Munich it is the right breast of Juliette and in Verona it is the same. The inanimate object helps you to get another chance at the delight of the cities. Not being superstitious, I did not get involved other than to watch. I did learn that if you want to do any of these things, go back at night and there is no line. We often wait until the tourists return to their ship or hotel to go out and see the sites. Maybe we actually see them uncrowded and thus have no need to return. I would, however, enjoy a month in any one of these places.
