Mary Magdalene by Donatello

A question on the Internet asked what piece of art made a huge impact on your life?
We have been to many of the great galleries and museums in Europe and been overwhelmed by much.
However, in a smaller museum behind duomo in Florence which has the original golden doors of the Baptistry there is  a wood carving of Mary Magdalene by Donatello from the 1400's.
I find Donatello's bronze "David" a true masterpiece, but I was not prepared for this.
It holds all of the pathos of a lost love.
