WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Prague: a great city.

We are smitten with Prague. It is welcoming and pretty. It is also a place of history. The capital of the Czech Republic it spans the Viltava River. Both sides united by the Charles Bridge. It is an easily walkable city, but they also have a great transit system. There is the central plaza in old town with its sculpture and clock. There is the palace overlooking the river. While we stayed within blocks of the old town we took the transit (a modern trolly) to the National Museum and the Jewish Cemetery. Spending four or five days in Prague is well worth it.  It is also a good spot from which to go by bus or train to the Danube, Munich, France and Italy. Germany and Austria are close. We flew into Frankfort and took a short-hop to Prague.
View from the palace.
