WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Brussels Belgium - sleeper

Brussels does not jump into mind when thinking of European cities to visit. It should. It is a great city with lots of places to see. It is the home of the European Union and a center of economic activity.  It has a long history of being a city that provides leadership.

Because Belgium does not have a prominent airline, to visit you will likely go through Paris, London or a German city. I suggest Paris. At CDG you only need to go downstairs from arrivals and catch a train to Brussels. Not expensive and very convenient.

While in Brussels you must have Belgium waffles and Belgium fries (French fries were invented in Belgium.) You will eat your fries with mayonnaise if authentic.
