WELCOME

This blog is about the adventure of traveling and especially the interesting people that you meet. We will share stories about people and places we have encountered from around the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Mexico, The Vatican, The Netherlands, Belgium, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and more. This is not a travelogue -- we leave that to Rick Steves -- this is a collection of fragments in the journey of life.

Tips and tales for Paris

View of Paris from the roof of Galleries Lafayette
The picture above is a good example of a tip regarding Paris. The views from the roof of this department store are wonderful and free. Second tip: go across the street to Printempts Department Store and have lunch upstairs under the stained glass ceiling. Third tip: while in the neighborhood go visit the Paris Opera House, The Palais Garnier, which is beautiful.
Tip four: if you are new to Paris, take the Hop On Hop Off Bus to see what you will want to see. You can also do what we do to introduce new people and that is to hire a vintage car with driver for a two hour tour, Tip five: you will want to visit Montmartre and the fun way is to take a cab to the base and then ride the tram up. Spend a few hours, take in the view, watch artists at work, enter the cathedral, and have lunch. More tips to come.
