This is one of my favorite photos. This the hallway outside of the room in which the Mona Lisa hangs in the Louvre. Note that the walls in this hallway are hung with magnificent paintings and no one is looking at them. People are either walking with purpose somewhere or they are looking at their guidebooks. They are running from Mona Lisa to Winged Victory or Venus de Milo. They skip major works by great artists. They also miss the point of this vast collection. Plus, when I am there I want to yell "Look up!" for most of rooms have wonderful ceilings. The hallway here is not one of them, but still worth a look. Please, if this is on your bucket list, schedule the good part of a day to see this place.
The best adventures are those that contain surprises. There are wonders to be discovered by getting lost in the Highlands of Scotland or on the back roads of New England. There may just be a chance to meet a special character who changes your life. In ancient times these were sometimes known as angels.
WELCOME
